Happy New Year!

For many, the new year signals a fresh start, a new beginning, a blank slate.  The idea of a completely blank canvas can be both inspiring and intimidating…so many options!

The purpose of the upper floor of this town home was totally wide open – no fixed function. We drew inspiration from the exposed brick wall and created a comfortable, relaxed, and inviting dual purpose space – one side a TV area and the other an office.

We chose to address the window coverings with custom fabric shades rather than drapery to maximize the exposure of brick.  We love adding plants when the space suits (and our clients are on board with taking care of them)!

We created a cozy reading nook in an awkward, but bright and sunny spot.  The beautiful over-dyed patchwork rug anchors the large sofa in the TV area.

Open shelving in the custom office millwork was great display for clients existing collection of antique books and objects.

Having the flexibility to turn the space into anything the clients wanted resulted in a gorgeous room that is functional, relaxed, and filled with objects they love.

We could not be happier with the finished product – bring on the new, exciting year!
