I’m a big supporter of the Calgary Zoo not only because it’s a great place to spend a sunny afternoon with my son but also because of their incredible conservation efforts. A few years ago, I was thrilled asked to be on the Calgary Zoo’s Tusks & Tails Gala organizing committee. The yearly Tusks & Tails gala in June is a premier, black tie event with proceeds funding a particular initiative the zoo is passionate about. In the past it’s been for their new penguin exhibit, hippo filtration systems, or their education programs for kids. This year we’ve decided on raising awareness for gorilla habitat conservation and the new Lemur exhibit. In the wake of the devastating floods of 2013 in Calgary, we wanted to focus on a fresh start and positive energy. I’ve been busy helping to plan this event with the rest of the talented and dedicated committee. Corea Sotropa is sponsoring the decor and candy bar. The concept is springtime drama – something that embodies the uplifting spirit we are trying to create. Today I thought I’d share with you my concept for the table settings.
It’s been a true honour to be involved with the Calgary Zoo over the last few years and to contribute my skills to this event. I’m really looking forward to the gala and to see how the decor is received by the a-list invitees. It should be a wonderful night!
