Chair Transformation

Sometimes it’s hard to imagine how much new fabric and paint can transform an old piece of furniture. Take for instance this accent chair we recently revamped for a client. Reena saw it’s potential and rescued it a day before the client had arranged to sell all her furniture to make way for a new look. Through the chipped gold leaf paint and colourful tapestry floral she was able to see a diamond in the rough. Now it perfectly complements our clients new scheme. The leopard print velvet is to die for and the gold leaf has been banished. You’d never know about it’s gaudy former life!

you simply killed the chair. it was so classy plus vintage looks and gold is in trend now. Sorry to say but i would simply love to have that before version in my home or rather change the fabric to some other bolder print but never ever paint the wood.

    Hi mabz,
Our clients had owned the chair in the before state for many, many years and wanted to make a complete transformation. They are thrilled with the results! We were happy to be able to transform it into something completely different. You are right, gold is a trend right now. But after living with this piece for 25 years they couldn’t stand it anymore! There are so many different options available when reupholstering a piece of furniture and this was the one that pleased our clients and fit their interior the best. One of our jobs as designers is to find inventive ways of doing something. Just changing the fabric was not going to cut it for these clients. If it were your chair, we may have taken another route. Thanks to much for reading the blog and for the comment.
