We just wrapped up another spectacular year with Dinner by Design and it was nothing short of amazing. After months of planning, our team had three days to execute the design which was influenced and inspired by the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. We wanted our space “My Own Muse” to be a reflection of her life and dramatic self-portraits. Admirers of Frida will immediately identify her signature style: dark brows, colorful dresses, and ribbons and flowers in her hair. The flowers had a deeper personal meaning to Kahlo, as they were often picked from her own garden. “I paint flowers so they will not die”. The design team at Corea Sotropa had so much fun re-imagining this unconventional woman from history. The dramatic tablescape incorporates the bright colours of traditional Mexican folk art along with iconic furniture and whimsical details.
The event took place over two evenings and included the cocktail night on Thursday and an elegant seated VIP dinner on Friday night. We could not have pulled off this gorgeous space with out all of our sponsors and supporters. We can’t thank all of you enough, Domaine Furnishings, MDB Electrical, Burke Builders, Red Eight Workshop, D&D Woodwork, House of Persian Rugs, Julie’s Elegant Crafts, Modern Wall Design, Schumacher, Fabricut, Stewart Drummond Studios, Modern Duke Home Decor, Serenity Floral, Manana Imports and Kid Gloves Courier.
We absolutely loved each and every space and this event brings together the best of the best in our industry. Its an honor to be a part of the most talented interior designers in Calgary.
