I long for a proper office in my own home. If I had a beautiful, light filled space, with ample storage I know deep down in my heart I would be much more organized. Right now I shift between a desk set up in a dimly lit basement bedroom and my kitchen island – sitting at whichever area is less cluttered with papers. It’s very sad. One would think that being a designer I would have this under control, but you know the old saying about the shoemakers son! But enough of my woes. Today, I want to show you a home office we designed for a client that I have coveted since the day our client showed me her floor plans. This client wanted Corea Sotropa to create a loft-like feeling throughout her house. The architect had located the office at the top of the staircase with a small nook just adjacent. We got busy and designed bookcases, drawers and cabinets galore, a huge work surface big enough to accommodate two, and a small sitting area for sipping tea and reading a book. A funky chain link chandelier was chosen for the staircase and one of the walls was clad in red brick. Take a look…

Isn’t it a great space? Our clients are so happy with it, and especially like the fact that there will be room for both their kids’ homework projects. I’ll show you more from this loft inspired house in the coming weeks, so stayed tuned!
