Spring is almost here, but in the design world we are getting ready for summer! Believe it, now is the time to start dreaming and scheming for patio season and ordering up new furniture. We have been so lucky this winter in regards to weather that we have already even enjoyed a few patio days (though its still quite brown out there).
We thought it was the perfect time to share this fantastic project that we completed, affectionately called out “Mount Royal Roof Top”. Our team wanted to create an inner city oasis for our clients, a perfect spot to entertain and escape after a long day. This roof top condo project was certainly a challenge, but we managed to find creative solutions and the clients were thrilled with the final result.
The entire space was inspired by the existing terracotta tiles and the exterior brick walls. Pops of orange mixed with bold geometric patterns were the perfect accents for this inviting space. We fell in love with the bold and graphic Schumacher chevron outdoor fabric used it in a few areas around the patio. One of the design considerations that had to be made throughout the process was the fact that our wonderful city is prone to gale force winds. We had to make sure that the furniture items were sturdy enough to handle these winds, and the majority of the pieces were sourced from a company called Dedon, known for its quality and unparalleled style.
The good news is the 900 pound corten steel planter won’t be going anywhere ( its tucked behind the brick wall and we will have a photo in our next reveal). The bad news was for the four guys that had to carry it up the narrow stairwell to the patio (thanks guys!). We also had a custom acrylic mirror made for the patio along with a custom fire table. Rather than a traditional gas fueled fireplace, we used and eco smart gel with a custom glass surround (again that wind).
Stay tuned for the dining area reveal coming soon!
