New Life for a busy Family Room

“My parents don’t want to come babysit for me because my sofa is too uncomfortable!”  said my client as we sat down to discuss the plans for her family room makeover. We needed to come up with something not only comfortable, but stylish too. It also had to be able to take a serious beating since there was a toddler and two dogs who spent most of their time in this room. My client loved colour, so that was a must and she wanted it to be casual – nothing stuffy. One of the first things we selected was the cobalt blue second life rug. Old wool area rugs are bleached, redyed in zippy hues and patched together creating a bullet proof, stain disguising carpet fit for life in the family room. From there Corea Sotropa Interior Design selected the circular floral print (a modern take on a traditional suzanni pattern) for the window coverings and rustic furniture finishes that still look great with scratches and scrapes. I’m crazy about the blue and white scheme. It’s current and refreshing – just the thing for a family room. Here’s some shots of the finished product…

Beautiful! I love the touches of colours and textures throughout as they add delightful colour and character to the room. The built in wall unit is awesome too!
