The humble nightstand. It’s meant to give us a place to hold all the things we need to reach from the comfort of bed, but it often becomes covered in books, loose change and alarm clocks that can be far from pretty – ultimately morphing into a “catch all” of clutter.
The good news is – it’s an easy fix! Spending just a bit of time and money styling a nightstand can make a huge difference in a bedroom. The first and last thing you see in your day deserves to be pleasing, uncluttered, and a reflection of your taste.
Here are some examples of nightstands we’ve styled over the years:
One of the most important details when styling a nightstand is to ensure proper lighting. This pretty bedroom boasts a gorgeous winged headboard, so we chose a sconce with an adjustable arm to accommodate the depth of the headboard. We love the look of layered accessories – signature Corea Sotropa detailing!
This bedroom is from our Woodbine project that we featured on the blog a few weeks ago. We had the nightstands custom built narrower than average to accommodate the smallish space. We added a scalloped backplate to give the illusion of a larger table.
Closed storage by the bed is essential for keeping necessary bedtime knik-knaks out of sight. This table has multiple, deep drawers which can even serve for clothing storage. Because the bedroom is meant to be an intimate sanctuary, the nightstand is an ideal place to display your most cherished mementos and photographs.
We’re in love with this hand-distressed nightstand! It provides a bold pop of colour into this master suite, and proves that all the furniture in a room does not have to be perfectly matched to work well in a space.
We hope this post gives you some inspiration for your own bedroom sanctuary!
