On this week’s blog, we’re revisiting the beautiful Modern Acreage project designed by Reena and Alanna. Our clients, a young family of five, hired us to help them with their home addition and renovation of their existing home. We’ve explored the master suite and now we’re ready to unveil the kitchen and dining area!
The goal of this project was to take our client’s home from it’s existing, dark and traditional aesthetic, to something new, fresh and, modern. The new kitchen addition allowed us to expand the dining nook into the previous kitchen space, drastically opening up the floorplan.
We loved designing this modern, clean-lined kitchen because it was a bit of a departure from our usual aesthetic. We had the opportunity to work with our friends at Sadona Cabinets for the second time and once again, we are over-the-moon with the final result!
We selected back-painted glass for a backsplash rather than a patterned tile to keep things simple.
Our client’s vision was for a white-on-white kitchen, however, due to the vastness of the space, we thought that such a large expanse of white would feel too sterile. Instead, we chose to incorporate walnut and brass into the scheme to warm things up and break up the expanse of white.
To further punctuate the white millwork, we left the stainless steel appliances exposed rather than integrating them into the millwork.
Our clients were swept off their feet by this beautiful slab of Bianca Gioia marble while they were out stone shopping with Reena. We chose to feature the stone on both the island and the coffee bar. We took it one step further by incorporating a waterfall detail on either end of the island and the one exposed edge of the coffee bar!
As they say, “life begins after coffee”, which is why we incorporated a coffee bar into our design! The coffee bar is home to a second sink, wine fridge, and a beverage fridge. Not only does it cover our client’s coffee needs but their wine ones too!
Next to the island, we have the gorgeous kitchen table, built and designed by Sadona, which we surrounded by ten leather armchairs. The leather chairs add weight to the area and are extremely durable for their three little kids…win-win!
Stay tuned – We can’t wait to show you more from this stunning space! Follow along on all of our behind-the-scenes design journey over on Instagram.
