This week is the grand finale of our three-part #IHBriarHill blog series. This gorgeous modern home was designed by Reena and built by our friends Dream Ridge Homes (have we mentioned that we love them?!)

This lot was initially purchased for its completely unobstructed views of the downtown core, the river valley, and the mountains. The rooftop deck is the perfect oasis for the family’s outdoor entertaining and to take in that scenery, while the adjacent lounge was built to provide extra space for guests to unwind! With this in mind, we designed an extra deep and comfy window seat for everyone to cozy up on. Pro Tip: The bench is not only comfortable and beautiful, but it’s also functional. Reena designed it to double as a storage space for the outdoor cushions! Genius!

The palette and accessories in this space were kept spare and simple. The trio of George Nelson bubble lights, hung in the adjacent stairwell, were chosen to fill the vast vertical space without adding weight! Our choice for stair railing was also designed to complement the bright, airiness of the loft.

We left large expanses of the wall for the client’s ever-growing collection of art, and we kept a few of their favourite books, live plants and a sumptuous collection of textiles on the window bench.

Needless to say, we’re going to be in loft with this space for the rest of time!
