This week on the blog we’re exploring the master suite of this gorgeous modern acreage!
This young family of five first got in touch with us for help with the interior design of an addition they were building on their existing home. Their existing home was rather traditional in detail with builder grade finishes but they were looking for was a complete facelift and we were ready to help! The goal was to freshen up the home and to make their space more bright, airy and modern.
We gave the term “open concept” a whole new meaning with this master bedroom/bathroom combo. Both spaces are completely open without even a door to separate the two. With this in mind, we needed to keep the finishing and furnishing cohesive.
The tone of the space was set when our clients fell for a gorgeous slab of Bianca Gioia marble with the most stunning leathered finish. The overall palette of the bedroom and bathroom stems from this piece. We used slabs of this luscious marble for the counter surface and the shower bench.
We paired the counters with herringbone floors and a large scale Statuario marble tile combined with simple white back-painted glass on the walls.
The bathroom is entirely white on white, apart from the walnut vanity which emulates and supports the warm tones of the hardwood floors we selected throughout the entire home.
We selected a beautiful and dramatic water-colour vibed wallpaper from Casamance to be installed on all of the walls in the bedroom.
We knew we had no other choice when selecting lighting for this room than to go with George Nelson’s iconic bubble lamps to complete the airy and “cloud-like” space that our clients dreamed of. We selected the XL pendant to fill the ceiling space over the bed. Fun Fact: This pendant is 50 inches in diameter!
We had the existing headboard reupholstered in a soft dove gray linen fabric to complement the wallpaper. We also went with a gray custom Kravet sofa with an open back to outfit the bay window. This sofa was the perfect cross between a chaise lounge and a love seat.
The finishing touches of the bedroom came in the form of the angelic unlined ivory linen drapery that is also used in the master bath. All of the unlined drapery is layered over motorized blackout roller shades for light control.
