When long time clients approached us to renovate the bathroom in their Mount Royal condo, we jumped at the chance. The layout of the bathroom is very unique in that it is three distinct but connected spaces. His and her vanity spaces are separated by the tub/shower enclosure, his side can be closed off with a pocket door, hers with a swinging door. Her side also serves as the guest powder room and can be accessed from the hall. Additionally, his side is the ensuite and can be accessed from the master bedroom. Confused yet? Here is the blueprint for the room:
Let’s take a look at this lovely “loo for two”!
Using walnut for the custom vanity on “His” side creates a definite masculine vibe. The floating cabinet is underlit giving the space a touch of drama. Adding to the masculine feel is a 3″ thick mitred counter in Calcutta Gold Marble.
“Her” side is truly stunning. We had the custom vanity lacquered in white for a more feminine feeling and chose a delicate Ogee counter edge profile to add softness. As this side of the room also serves as her make-up vanity, we were very selective in lighting fixtures that were not only pretty (the vintage lotus flower fixture is gorgeous!) but provided light that was bright and even enough to apply make-up. The top piece of millwork built into the vanity is a custom jewellery box designed specifically for our client’s collection.
The brass plumbing fixtures tie in beautifully with the gold accents of the vanities. The custom marble tile mosaic by New Revenna is a jaw-dropper and serves as a striking art piece for the whole space.
The end result is a gorgeous, tranquil space that both she and he can luxuriate in without compromising their own personal taste.
