The martini lounge and the office just across the hall from the lounge, designed by Reena, is one that we have been so excited to share with you! Incidentally, you can also check out this project and some of the 2018 design trends that it illustrates so beautifully, in the December issue of Western Living Magazine.
Often times our clients approach us to help find a use for rooms that are lacking purpose and direction. This particular client, a savvy businesswoman, and a mom of three boys with amazing style called on us to help her with two rooms located just off of her front entry. With one of the rooms, we created a personal home office and the second, a dramatic martini lounge for entertaining.
The focal point of the office space is the oversized charcoal piece by artist Cathy Daley that we chose with the help of our friends at New Zones Gallery. We loved how the rich blue walls, which were pre-existing, made the crisp, graphic art stand out! Two of our client’s existing black and white armchairs, featured above, paired perfectly with the Cathy Daley piece.
We sourced a beautiful gold leaf table base from Worlds Away and had a custom black nero marble table top made for it. To support the simple and graphic scheme we styled the space with a mix of gold accent metals and black and white accessories.
THE MARTINI LOUNGE
Reena wanted to create a dramatic space for this martini lounge and the bold blue wall/ceiling colour that was already in place was the perfect place to start! We had a custom Tai Ping rug made specifically for this room. Reena picked an organic textural pattern in tones of blue and silver. The silk fibers in the rug create an almost ethereal shimmer in the soft evening light.
Much of the furniture that we used in the lounge, the client already owned, with the exception of the gorgeous chaise lounge from Kravet and the custom banquette that we had made locally to fit the length of the room. Not only does it provide tons of extra seating for cocktail parties, the sumptuous velvet upholstery perfectly supports the luxurious and lounge-y design concept. That incredible ceiling light you see below is from Arteriors Home.
Check out the custom antiqued mirror panels that we had installed on the wall behind the credenza – that gorgeous smoked finish virtually guarantees a flattering reflection, no matter what kind of day you’ve just had!
We adore the bold and unique vibes in this space. Follow along on Instagram at #IHDiscoveryRidge to see the progression and additional shots from this house!
